Medicare Part D - Explained 1. Everyone on Medicare can get drug coverage regardless of income or health. 2. You are NOT REQUIRED to sign up. 3. To get coverage, you MUST CHOOSE one of the many private drug plans that Medicare has approved. 4. If you have a LIMITED INCOME you may be able to qualify for “EXTRA HELP” and pay very little for drugs. 5. If your drug costs are VERY HIGH, Medicare will pay 95 percent of your costs beyond a certain level in any one year. 6. If you already have GOOD DRUG COVERAGE, YOU MAY NOT NEED THIS MEDICARE COVERAGE (but it is wise to check your existing coverage.
